On the precipice of one of the tallest cliffs in America, thousands of feet above the desert floor, my thoughts and vision become crystal. I can almost see the future perched on the edge of the wondrous and horrifying canyon below me. The sky above me and the ancient Bristlecone Pines to each side reassure me to trust in my art and hold fast with paint brush in hand. One false move and I would be cast down into the dark, bottomless canyon beneath me. Safety and warning triangulate my course as I consider the abyss.
